What is seth sendashonga?

Seth Sendashonga was a Rwandan politician and human rights activist. Born on January 10, 1949, he served in various government positions, including as Minister of Interior and Public Security. In 1992, he resigned from his position and joined the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF), a rebel group that fought against the Rwandan government during the 1994 genocide.

During the genocide, Sendashonga spoke out against the killings of Tutsis and moderate Hutus and called for an end to the violence. However, he was forced to flee the country in 1995 after several attempts were made on his life. He sought asylum in Kenya and continued to advocate for reconciliation and peace in Rwanda.

On May 16, 1998, Sendashonga was assassinated in Nairobi, Kenya, by members of the Rwandan government's intelligence service. His death was widely condemned by human rights organizations and the international community. Today, Seth Sendashonga is remembered as a courageous voice for human rights and a symbol of resistance against authoritarianism and ethnic violence in Rwanda.
